Students
Competitive funding opportunities

As research funding gets tighter, it is more and more difficult to find full financial support for graduate students. UAFs Department of Geology and Geophysics offers upto one year teaching assistantship (TA) on a competitive basis to promising students. Sometimes I can cover the remaining time or a part of the remaining time through a research assistantship (RA). More often, graduate students have to look for competitive funding opportunities to support their graduate studies/research.

Below is a list of some such funding opportunities that geoscience and remote sensing students can compete for. It is your responsibility as a graduate student to know the deadlines, apply for these competitive grants, and to seek and apply to other grant opportunities that are not as well advertised.
